First Steps to Learning Pre-School & Day Nursery (Ofsted Registered)

At First Steps to Learning, your child’s journey begins in a nurturing, safe, and inspiring environment led by a qualified teacher with over 20 years’ experience. We specialise in supporting babies and young children through their Early Years, working closely with families to lay the foundations for a smooth and confident transition to school. Whatever their starting point, every child leaves us confident, happy, and ready to take on the next stage of their learning journey. We understand modern family life can be demanding, which is why we are open from 8:00am–6:00pm with the added flexibility of an early drop-off from 7:15am. This on-demand service is available with 48 hours’ notice for a small additional fee, giving parents extra support when they need it most. Our in-house curriculum is designed to reflect the many ways children learn best. Through weekly themes, storybooks, trips, and the celebration of cultural events, we spark curiosity and build knowledge. Learning is always fun, engaging, and meaningful — blending adult-led opportunities with ‘planning in the moment’ activities based on the children’s interests. This approach encourages independence, concentration, creativity, and exploration, ensuring each child develops at their own pace. Your child’s safety is at the heart of what we do. Our nursery is equipped with a secure video-entry system so we can carefully identify every visitor before they enter the site, offering families complete peace of mind. The best way to get to know us is to visit! We’d love to welcome you into our setting, show you our learning spaces, and introduce you to our team. Why not book a tour today and see for yourself how First Steps to Learning can give your child the very best start in life?

At First Steps to Learning, we believe it is important for children to grow up with an appreciation of the diverse world around them. We celebrate a wide range of cultural festivals and traditions throughout the year, including Eid, Diwali, Easter and more. Our popular 'Cultural Day' invites children to dress in their cultural clothing and share their heritage with friends. while staff also take part in the celebrations to model inclusivity and respect. We are mindful of families' individual traditions and food requirements - including halal and other dietary needs - ensuring that every child and family feels valued and included. These celebrations not only enrich our curriculum but also help children to develop a sense of belonging, inclusivity, and respect for others.
