Starting an Infant or Primary school for the first time (Reception)

Children start statutory schooling in a Reception class at either an Infant or Primary School in the September after their 4th birthday.  Parents must apply online for a Reception school place between 01 September 2025 and 15 January 2026 to secure a September 2026 Infant or Primary school. Parents must still apply if their child attends a nursery attached to a school.  Please go to the Havering School Admissions website for further information.

Transferring from an Infant school to a Junior school (year 2 to year 3)

Children in year 2 at an Infant school are due to transfer to year 3 at a Junior school in the September after their 7th birthday.  At the start of Year 2 parents of children who attend an Infant School must apply online for a year 3 (Junior) school place between 01 September 2025 and 15 January 2026 to secure a September 2026 Junior school. Transferring to a Secondary School (year 6 to year 7)

Children transfer to year 7 at a Secondary school in the September after their 11th birthday.  At the start of Year 6 in Primary School, parents must apply online for a year 7 school place between 01 September 2025 and 31 October 2025 to secure a September 2026 Secondary school.  Please go to the Havering School Admissions website for further information.

Children who move to Havering or who want to change schools during the academic year

If you have moved into the borough of Havering and require a school place or, your child already attends school and you want them to either change Havering schools or transfer to a Havering school, you will need to complete the Havering In-Year Common Application Form (ICAF).  Please go to the Havering School Admissions website for further information.
