Join us for an informative and supportive workshop on using visuals to make communication easier for your child.
If your child has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), you know that understanding and expressing feelings can sometimes be challenging. In this session, we’ll show you simple visual tools—like pictures, charts, and symbols—that can help your child understand routines, make choices, and share their thoughts, both at home and in pre-school.
You’ll see real examples, get hands-on tips, and have lots of chances to ask questions. We’ll talk through ways you can use visuals every day, whether it’s for getting ready in the morning or talking about feelings. Our aim is to help you feel more confident and supported, so you can help your child communicate and feel understood on their own unique journey.
What will we talk about?
Our goal is to provide you with clear, easy-to-use ideas for helping children communicate and understand their world—using visual tools that really work for children with SEND.
• Why use visuals? – Discover how visuals can reduce frustration, build independence, and make everyday routines smoother for your child.
• Types of visuals – See examples of visual supports like picture cards, daily schedules, and feelings charts, and learn how to use them at home and in pre-school.
• How to use visuals – Get simple, step-by-step guidance and see demonstrations, so you feel ready to start using visuals with your child right away
How will this session help my child and me?
By the end of this workshop, you’ll leave with useful ideas you can use straight away, a better understanding of how visuals help children with SEND, and the confidence to support your child’s communication every day.
