- Description
The EarlyBird Programme is a friendly group for parents and carers of autistic children under 5. You’ll join four to six families who are on a similar journey. It’s a safe space to meet other parents, share your stories, and support each other. For six weeks, we’ll meet in relaxed group sessions lasting 2.5 hours each. Every session is full of simple, practical ideas you can try at home with your child. We’ll also offer a home visit or a phone call so we can listen to your family's needs and provide advice that works for you.
What will we talk about?
The sessions focus on the following main areas:
- Understanding Autism - learning about autism in simple everyday terms.
- Communication - helping your child communicate and connect.
- Understanding autistic experiences - seeing the world through your child's eyes.
- Supporting daily living - strategies to support sleeping, eating and toileting as well as understanding sensory needs.
- Health and wellbeing - understanding emotions and behaviour with tips and strategies on how to support your child's mental health.
- Connections - looking at next steps, learning about school options, local support and helping your child build friendships.
How will this session help my child and me?
By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident about what autism means for your child and family. You’ll learn what makes your child unique, how autism affects them, and simple ways you can support them during the early years.
You’ll also get an official autism course handbook filled with easy tips and advice. This way, you can check back anytime and use what you’ve learned as your child grows.
If you are interested in joining our course, you are welcome to attend our online introduction session first, where we will provide detailed information about what to expect from the course.
