The SEND Early Years Support Service (SEND EYSS) is pleased to announce a comprehensive and engaging series of workshops designed exclusively for parent carers of children under 5 in Havering with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Our workshops go beyond information-sharing—they offer hands-on, practical support, interactive activities, and opportunities for parents to ask questions and receive tailored advice from our experienced specialist advisors.

Join our engaging, interactive toilet-training workshop! Led by Havering's SEND Early Years Team, this session is designed to empower families with practical strategies, hands-on advice, and tried-and-tested tips to help your child become confident and independent with toileting. Connect with other parent carers, share experiences, and take away resources to support your child at home and beyond.

What will we talk about?

The aim of the session is to provide parent carers with valuable information and practical strategies on supporting their children’s toilet training journey. The session will cover key topics such as:

  • Understanding the importance of toilet training
  • What can impact toilet training
  • Evidence that supports toilet training for children with SEND
  • How the body works in relation to toilet training
  • Getting started, strategies and reasonable adjustments that may be made to support independent toileting
  • Understanding the importance of working together to support the independence of toileting.
