Blind in Business help people who are blind or have partial sight into work. Our Training and Employment Services help you to identify and achieve your ambitions. We offer help and support with finding work, the interview process, and obtaining equipment to help you succeed. We also support employers in hiring and working with people with visual impairments.

Blind in Business was founded in 1992 by three blind graduates. After graduating from university with good degrees, we initially found it difficult to gain work, due to misconceptions and wariness from employers who were wary about visual impairments. But we persisted, and two of us became partners in leading law firms. The third went on to do a Master of Business Administration at Cranfield and became a successful businessman, making history as the first blind person to gain this qualification.

We launched Blind in Business to help other blind and partially sighted graduates to compete equally with sighted candidates for good jobs, by providing help, support and training, and by removing barriers to success. Since we started the business, it has grown beyond our initial dreams and now helps hundreds of people achieve their goals.

work through training, mentoring, and career support. We work directly with employers to create accessible opportunities, raise awareness of visual impairment in the workplace, and provide tailored support for jobseekers

Tesco, the UK’s largest grocery retailer, have the bold ambition of providing 200,000 work experience and employer encounters especially for Special Educational Needs (SEND) students. They share our commitment to building young people’s employability skills and providing experiences that grow confidence.

This 5-day opportunity is open to any of our blind or partially sighted students aged between 13 and 18 years old who are in full-time education. The work experience will take place within their larger stores and every effort will be made to secure work experience at the store closest to the participant’s home. Incredibly, Tesco have offered flexibility around when the student works, so dates across the year will be considered.
