Special Educational Needs, Disabilities (SEND) and Alternative Provision (AP) Improvement Activity

The Havering SEND and AP partnership is constantly working to improve support, services and outcomes for Havering’s children and young people with SEND and accessing Alternative Provision. The partnership is made up of leaders from the Council’s education and social care teams, those working in the health system, leaders of schools and other educational settings, our partners in the voluntary/charity sector, as well as Havering families.

Below you can find Havering’s SEND and Alternative Provision Strategy 2024 – 2028. This sets out Havering’s vision for children and young people with SEND and accessing AP, as well as its priorities for the coming years. Beneath the Strategy, you can find the partnership’s SEND and AP Self-Evaluation. This Self-Evaluation describes the part of the SEND and AP system that are working well, and those that must improve. This evaluation was based on a wide range of information from children and young people with SEND, their families, and those working in the local SEND and AP system. An update will take place during the academic year 2025-2026.

Along with the Strategy and the Self-Evaluation, the partnership will soon publish its SEND and AP Action Plan. The Action Plan will provide regular updates and more detailed information on the improvement activity set out in the Strategy across the period 2024-2028.
