Communication and Interaction Support Team (C&I)

Our team of specialist advisory teachers and advisors support the positive inclusion of children and young people from 5-19 years with identified social communication differences, autism, DLD (developmental language disorder) and speech and language delay in Havering schools. Their specialist work includes:

  • The development of neurodivergent acceptance by providing training or CPD opportunities to peers, teaching staff and parents.
  • Modelling specialist interventions and strategies, which promote Children and Young People's social communication and language skills.
  • The development and understanding of Children and Young People's emotional regulation and sensory processing differences.
  • Enhancing pupil voice to foster self-advocacy and independence. 
  • Supporting teaching staff with assessment and monitoring of Children and Young People's progress using appropriate tools and platforms.
