Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs), CAD 5-19 service

An educational psychology led intervention for promoting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people.  Training focuses on the following areas of needs; self-esteem, managing difficult emotions, friendship and social skills, loss and bereavement, emotions.  It also covers a range of interventions such as social and therapeutic stories, cognitive behavioural approaches, motivational interviewing. 

 

Upon completion of the 5 training days the ELSAs will be able to develop and deliver individualised and/or group support programmes to meet the emotional needs of children and young people.

Mental Health Training, Charlie Waller Trust

Programme for schools and young people provides evidence-based presentations and training sessions that motivate, build confidence, inform and offer practical ideas and tools that can easily be put into practice.

 

Talks and training sessions can be run for small or large groups and can last from 90 minutes to a whole day, depending on your requirements.

Mental Health & Wellbeing First Aid Training, Crusaider First Aid

The training gives a flexible approach to an organisation being better equipped to recognise and identify children and young people suffering from, developing or at risk of mental ill health and its links to behaviour and safeguarding.  The training provides knowledge, resources and ideas to be used straight away in any setting without increasing workload or stress on those staff attending.

Upon completion, delegates will be able to:

- Create plans and resources that support Children and Young Peoples Mental Health & Wellbeing:

- Leave the training with a Mental Health and Wellbeing Development Plan for your setting

- Have a clear structure of what you are trying to achieve and provide ideas and resources of how you can achieve them

- Access templates for behavioural plans and reviewing systems which can be put straight into your setting

- Gain ideas and resources for early intervention, lessons and projects

- Produce a Mental Health Action Plan

- Produce a Wellbeing Action Plan

- Identify a clear pathway to make a CAMHS (CYPMHS) referral

- Access a list of helpful organisations with resources to support your setting

Team Teach Positive Handling, London Borough of Havering

Team Teach is an accredited training in positive handling strategies through a whole school approach, which supports your behaviour policy and keeps staff and children safe. Whilst also a behaviour management training, with the focus on SEMH and understanding what drives behaviour in young people.

Walk With Us: Toolkit for Supporting Children, Young People and Famlies Affected or Bereaved by Suicide, Suicide Bereavement UK

This helps ensure that everyone around a child and young person who has been bereaved and affected by suicide, knows how to respond and support them incl. parents & schools.

‘On the Go’ Online Modules, Suicide Bereavement UK

Online modules in suicide bereavement training are offered at both Level 1 and Level 2.

 

Level 1 – is for those with no knowledge, a basic understanding of postvention or have an interest in a specific module

  1. Suicide Bereavement & Language
  2. Talking with Children and Young People When There Has Been a Suicide
  3. Introduction to Post-Traumatic Growth

 

Level 2 – is more specialised (e.g. working with therapeutic tools). NB: appropriate qualifications required to attend the following module
