Newman Holiday Trust North West Holiday

Newman Holiday Trust Logo

The Trust provides holidays for over 120 children with disabilities and special needs aged 4-16 each year, in various locations around the United Kingdom.

Due to the high level of skilled care they require or financial circumstances, the children selected for these breaks would not otherwise receive a holiday. The holidays provide a range of fun activities in a safe and supported environment and always use a care ratio of one helper to one child.

Our holidays take place in carefully selected venues around the country. They last for a week and are packed with fun and adventure!

Each holiday’s timetable is designed to cater for the tastes of a very wide range of children with varying interests and abilities.

Activities can include theme park and cinema trips, swimming, horse riding, bouncy castles, organised visits from the Fire Service and Armed Forces, magic and talent shows, discos and so much more besides. The holidays also allow for quieter, more relaxed moments, involving sensory play, arts and crafts or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Each holiday is run by volunteers, led by two holiday organisers. Every child has their own volunteer carer, and other “spare” volunteers are around to help. Every holiday has at least one nurse to give the children whatever medication they may need, to support volunteers in providing for the children’s needs, and to make sure that we are all happy, healthy and active!
