One Million Mentors

One Million Mentors Logo

One Million Mentors (1MM) is a unique, community-based mentoring project with one simple aim: to connect one million young people with one million life-changing opportunities.

We back the talents of young people aged 14 to 25 to improve their career chances, while at the same time strengthening local communities. 1MM was founded on the belief that through personal, one-to-one mentoring, more young people can grow the knowledge, networks, skills and confidence they need to succeed.

By giving them access to a trained mentor every young person in the country can have the chance to reach their potential. Together we are meeting the challenge and creating social change, on a national scale.

Our mentoring is 1:1, one mentor matched to one mentee, meeting for 1 hour per month, for up to a year.

We set up timetabled mentoring programmes for young people aged 14 to 18 in schools, colleges and youth organisations, supporting our Youth Partners every step of the way and lasting between 6 to 12 months.

We run mentoring programmes for 18 to 25s too, with a start month and Celebration event at the end of the year with Youth Partners such as universities.

Any 18 to 25 year old can register as an independent mentee. Once you've completed your profile and training, we'll match you to one of our trained and supported volunteer mentors. You'll arrange when, where and how (online or in-person) you have your 1 hour per month session.

We've got 100s of mentors registered in the Greater Manchester region from all sorts of career sectors.

We're always looking for new Youth Partners, employer partners and mentors (especially those who are flexible enough to commit to a timetabled mentoring programme (1h per month on a set time and day) so get in touch today if you're interested! We'll support you to be the best mentor you can be so no need to worry if you don't have prior mentoring experience. You just need 5 years of work experience (or 2 years if you have a degree) to be one of our mentors.
