Young Carer Activities at Clayton Family Hub

Newleaf Foundation is organising activity sessions designed specifically for young carers. These events aim to help participants build confidence and life skills, make new friends, and, most importantly, have fun. Activities will be tailored for different age groups, ranging from five to sixteen years old. Attendance is free, though spaces are limited.
These sessions are short-term, activity-based opportunities for young carers (primary through to secondary age) to spend time with other young carers in a relaxed and supportive environment outside of school. The focus is on play, engagement and peer connection, rather than the provision of formal support.
Please note that this offer is not a statutory service and does not replace existing support pathways. The sessions are not able to undertake young carer assessments, provide casework, or deliver ongoing wraparound support.
If a young person requires assessment, targeted support, or access to formal services, referrals should be made through the Manchester Young Carers pathway.
To ensure appropriate participation, we ask referrers to confirm that:
- Parental/carer consent has been obtained for the young person to attend the activity sessions.
- The young person has given their own consent and would like to participate.
- The young person is already recognised as a young carer and linked with a lead professional or existing support network where appropriate.
- The referrer understands that these sessions are purely activity-based and do not constitute assessment or statutory support.
