L'Arche Manchester: Supported Living Service

We provide CQC rated 'Outstanding' supported living services to adults with learning disabilities. Our model is a little different. As well as being a supported living service we are also an intentional community where people with and without learning disabilities share life together. This means our belonging extends beyond those who receive a service or are employed. In our supported living settings we provide a model of shared living where houses are shared by people with learning disabilities as well as live in support assistants. Support is also provided in the more traditional sense by our live out support assistants. We believe that this model of shared living creates vibrant homes and person centred support.

As well as providing high quality housing and supported living, we also work with individuals to access employment and voluntary opportunities. Furthermore, we assist people to access relevant healthcare and, where appropriate, receive therapeutic services. We work hard to ensure that the needs of individuals with learning disabilities are met holistically, and that people are supported to live fully integrated and empowered lives within the wider communities in which they live.

We have a long history of working with social services and social work departments, health authorities, primary care trusts, registration and regulatory authorities, housing associations and others, to provide high quality support that is recognised as being truly responsive to people with learning disabilities.

We support people with diverse needs from those with profound physical disabilities and complex healthcare needs to others who have paid employment. The people we support are from different backgrounds and are of different ages. We believe that this diversity adds richness to our community life.
