BCT works in a strictly confidential manner and adheres to strict professional guidelines that include a Code of Ethics as set out by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy (BACP). All our therapists hold enhanced DBS certificates.

Treatment and Support Offer:

  • BCT offer community-based brief interventions to anyone at risk of gambling harms or experiencing low levels of harm from gambling. This support can look at practical tools and guidance on managing gambling, and any other concerns related to it. The team can also link into other services to offer ongoing support.
  • One-to-one therapy sessions for anyone experiencing gambling harms, including anyone impacted by the gambling of someone else. This support addresses the triggers and causes of gambling, the mental, social and practical impacts this can have, and supports people to achieve long-term recovery. Affected others are supported through emotional and practical support to understand gambling harms and deal with the impact it has had on them, whilst also offering support to deal with the legacy harms of another person’s gambling, such as financial, housing, and legal issues.
  • Couples therapy, to address the impact gambling harms has had on the relationship. This can be offered to a couple where one or both people have experienced gambling harms, as well as parents of an individual that has experienced gambling harms.
  • Links into long-term recovery support such as group support, lived experience led peer support, and our Trek Therapy programme, which allows service-users to get out in nature, supporting their overall wellbeing and connecting with others who have similar lived experience.

All treatment and support is completely free, confidential, and there is no waiting list.

Early Intervention and Education Support:

  • Bet You Can Help – training course accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health and awards attendees with a Level 2 qualification in Tackling Gambling Harms. This course providers specialist training for professionals wanting to engage with this issue, screen and embed gambling harms referrals into their pathways.
  • Sometimes it’s More Than a Game – gambling harms training and workshops for young people and specialists working with young people.
