Woodhouse Park Family Centre (Wythenshawe Community Initiative)

Woodhouse Park Family Centre Logo

Woodhouse Park Family Centre has supported the community of Wythenshawe for over 30 years, providing help to over 6,000 families. We operate within one of the most deprived wards in the country and our vision is to improve family relationships, increase confidence and aspirations, and build resilience.

We offer support in three key areas.

Play

Our open access play provision that gives children the chance to explore and develop through a range of play activities. Giving the children freedom to play helps them to develop independence, learn to manage risk and improve their social skills and learn to express and manage their emotions, contributing to increased confidence and self-esteem. We also provide a hot meal, to support families struggling with the cost of living.

Early Years

Our OFSTED registered pre-school supports vulnerable children and children with SEND to help them get ready for school and learn vital skills such as sharing, taking turns.

Planet Child's Play is our bespoke mobile crèche service, providing high quality childcare to support organisations with their work with parents and families, also providing employment and training opportunities.

Our creche at Willowbank Homeless Refuge makes sure children living there are still able to access childcare provision and socialise with other children, as well as allowing parents to attend appointments, courses or simply to allow parents time for themselves.

Family Support

Bright Futures is a dynamic open-access service offering practical and emotional support with a holistic approach to vulnerable children and families in Wythenshawe.

Our weekly Family Centre Social gives all local people the chance to socialise and find out what is on in the local area, as well as access advice, support, and a hot meal.

We encourage local recruitment of staff and promote volunteering and training opportunities for our community.
