Young Carer Support at Moss Side Powerhouse

Moss Side Powerhouse is a Powerhouse is a registered charity based in Moss Side Manchester and has been in existence since the year 2000. We are a Multi-Service Youth Hub for central Manchester and home to a range of services for Young People.
We run a variety of free youth activities for ages seven up to eighteen, from sports sessions, arts and workshops to community events and empowerment programmes.
All young people are welcome, and staff are committed to ensuring that young carers feel equally included.
Staff are trained to identify and support young carers, raise awareness among peers, and connect young carers to any support they may need outside of sessions if needed.
The team works to overcome barriers such as timing or caring responsibilities, ensuring that everyone has the chance to participate fully. We have achieved the Manchester Young Carers Spaces Award, which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to young carers.
As proud members of the Manchester Young Carers Parnership, we have hosted citywide events for and with young carers and are delighted to have our centre and staff feature in the award-winning Young Carers Music Video: Support Not Sympathy.
If you are a teacher, practitioner working with children and families, parent or carer and want to know how we can support young carers in the central postcode area please do get in touch.
If you are a young carer, we welcome you to visit our centre, explore the activities on offer, and join in with other young people who share the same interests. We have lots of young carers who visit us, and lots of young people who are not carers – everyone takes part and has fun together.
We listen to young carers, value the contribution you bring to our community, and aim to support you to participate fully, develop your skills, and enjoy opportunities that interest you!
