Manchester Deaf Centre: Children and Young People's Service

The Children and Young People’s service works with children and young people from 0 up to 24 years old, welcoming Deaf, Hard of hearing and Deafblind children and young people, as well as children of deaf adults (CODA) and those who have deaf siblings.

Find out about the groups and activities on the website. This includes:

  • Sign and Play: For infants and young children between the ages of 0-5 years, offering a range of activities such as messy play, story sessions, arts and crafts, as well as sign language learning opportunities. 
  • Kids Club: For children between the ages of 6 to 11, offering a range of activities focused on developing social and life skills. Includes trips to various attractions. An excellent chance for children to interact with peers in their age group and make new friendships.  
  • Youth Club: A specialized service for children aged 12 to 16, offering a chance to connect, develop friendships and engage in various activities to enhance life skills. Features a range of workshops with guest speakers and Deaf Role Models sharing their personal experiences, as well as visits. 
  • DAVE Project (Deaf Active Volunteers Experience): For young people aged between 17 and 24, offering valuable support and guidance as they transition into employment and education. Includes workshops on life skills, mental health, and digital training, plus residental trips and leadership activities.  
  • Bee Youth afterschool group: A drop in for 11-24 year olds with lots of activities like cooking and games - food provided too. Thursdays 5.30-8.30pm.
