Occupational Therapy Services (OT): Seashell Trust

Sensory Assessment and Advice
Delivered within the home and/or education or care setting, we provide sensory profiling and assessments and create functional sensory strategies to break down barriers to participation and help children and young adults with disabilities lead more meaningful, dynamic lives.
Occupational Therapy Assessment
The aim when delivering occupational therapy for children and young people is to support their needs and disabilities. This is why our therapists’ main focus is to prioritise assisting students in effectively participating in all areas of everyday life. Our therapists are equipped to complete a wide range of assessments to identify barriers to participation and provide strategies to overcome them.
Service Level Agreements
Our specialist Occupational Therapists can provide bespoke packages of assessment and intervention within the school environment. This input is tailored to meet the identified needs
of the school cohort, within a Universal, Targeted and / or Specialist approach. Service level agreements can be for an identified period of time, for example weekly visits across the academic year, or to fulfil an agreed number of assessments and interventions. Our therapists are also able to share their specialist knowledge offering training opportunities to both the staff team and the families of children with additional needs.
We can offer the following:
• Bespoke Sensory Assessment and advice
• General Occupational Therapy Assessment
• Service Level Agreements with schools
• Consultative support for Early Years’ settings and schools
• 1:1 Intervention
• Training
• Clinical supervision
Our Approach
Seashell’s Occupational Therapy service has been developed to support children and young adults with complex disabilities who may struggle to get their needs met in local/community audiology services.
We offer assessments within the home and/or education or care setting to address the challenges that are frequently associated with people with additional needs accessing
occupational therapy. By providing assessments in a variety of locations, we place the service user and their needs at the centre of the therapy’s objectives.
Our Occupational Therapy team are sensory integration specialists and take pride in being able to share knowledge through training, coaching and clinical supervision. They support children and young adults with various diagnoses and conditions and provide naturalistic observations within the home and school environments, as well as standardised assessment, allowing provision of a comprehensive report with specialist recommendations to suit individual needs and goals.
Additionally, our specialist Health and Therapy team can support with additional concerns or questions which may arise during assessment. This team consists of nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and audiologists.
