Free Residential Breaks: Go Beyond Charity

Go Beyond is the charity giving children and young people facing serious challenges in their lives the chance for a break that lasts a lifetime.
On breaks under wide open skies in the countryside, Go Beyond’s expert staff and committed volunteers give children and young people who have been bereaved, abused or bullied, who are living in poverty or caring for loved ones the chance to escape their worries and pressures. To have the moments and experiences they need to believe in themselves and think beyond the day-to-day for a bigger, brighter future.
We take referrals UK wide for individual children, small groups or a whole break of 16 children, aged 8 to 13 years of age. We operate year round and our Referral Coordinators are very experienced in placing the right child on the right break for them. Get in touch and bring some positivity into the lives of your children.
Centres based in Cornwall near Par, Derbyshire near Ashbourne and from 2026 near Chelmsford in Essex.

We support children aged 8–13 who are facing serious challenges in their lives, such as caring responsibilities, poverty, neglect, mental health struggles, bullying and many other struggles that children and young people can face. They must be able to attend the full length of the residential break (Monday-Friday).
We accept referrals from any individual working with children and young people in a professional capacity, including:
- Teachers and school staff members
- Social worker and youth workers
- Community or faith leaders
- Support workers and healthcare professionals
If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible, just ask. We are here to help.
Are you a parent or guardian of a child who needs a break?
As a parent or guardian of the child, we cannot accept referrals directly from you. You can still help give your child a break. Speak to a social worker, teacher or other professional working with your child to submit a request on your behalf.
- Other notes
We pick up from Derby train / bus station for a hand over from an adult chaperone, or you can transport your children directly to the Daleside Centre.
While our normal operation is for unacompanied young people, we are able to accommodate accompanying staff using our break volunteer route, please mention in your enquiry if interested.
