Gaddum Therapy: Children and Families Bereavement Service

Gaddum Therapy Logo

Gaddum’s bereavement services provide therapeutic support to children and young people who have suffered a bereavement. Our qualified bereavement trained therapists will work with anyone who’s lost someone close to them and they’re finding it difficult to cope with the upsetting emotions that come up when we experience a death of a family member or friend.

We understand that death can come at any time and it can be a tough to imagine what life is like without that person. We know sometimes it takes a bit longer to process and that’s what we’re here for; to help you remember the person you’ve lost whilst living your life to the fullest.

We accept referrals from anyone, though if you’re under 16, we ask that you get your parent or carer to help you fill in the referral form. For anyone other than the individual referring a child or young person, consent of that individual must be gained before sending us the referral. Our Salford and Manchester waiting lists are open, but demand for these services continues to be high, so waiting times can be up to 10 months for Salford, and between one to two years for Manchester.

Families can refer themselves or be referred by any relevant professional via our online referral form, which can be accessed here: Child Bereavement Services Referral Form

You can also find this form on our website, under the section for Children and Young Person's Bereavement Therapy. You are welcome to ring us to discuss making a referral to our service. Assessments will be carried out to establish whether we are the most appropriate service for the individual's support needs.

Once a referral has been submitted to us, we aim to process this within a week of receiving this, and we will be in touch to let you know that we have received the referral and to request consent to proceed with the service.

Once we have received this consent, we will then place the child/young person onto our waiting list for support. Currently, demand for our service is high, which means waiting times can be between one to two years.
