Young Carers Support at St Paul's CE Primary School

St Paul's CE Primary School Logo

At St Pauls we are committed to recognising and supporting the young carers within our school community. Young Cares play an important role in their families and we feel that their contribution deserves to be acknowledged, understood and celebrated.

We are working to strengthen our whole school approach, deepen our understanding among staff and pupils to help to create a safe compassionate environment where Young Carers can thrive.

To do this we will:

  • We will work proactively to recognise young carers in school.
  • We will work towards achieving the Young Carers in Schools award.
  • We will deliver whole school assemblies to raise awareness and promote the
    understanding of young carers.
  • We will also have information displayed in school for all children to access to continue to develop their understanding of Young Carers.
  • We will send information home, so parents and carers know what support is available.
  • We will offer coffee mornings and informal drop ins for families.
  • Young carers will have access to breakfast and school run after school clubs.
  • We will provide nurture/Haven sessions and dedicated time for young carers to meet and connect with one another.
  • We will work closely with Early Help Hubs and offer assessments where needed.
  • We will use appropriate tools and resources to support Young Carer early Help
    assessment.
  • We will liaise with feeder schools and their young carer champions to ensure smooth well supported transitions.

At St Pauls we are committed to building a safe, inclusive environment where young carers feel seen supported and celebrated.
