Kooth: Counselling and Support for Young Carers

Kooth, is an online counselling and emotional well-being service for children and young people, available free at the point of access. At Kooth we work with a range of young people including young carers. Our online team are here for you and the unique challenges you may face. 

Kooth is:

  • Safe, confidential, anonymous
  • Free at the point of need
  • Available through a smart phone, tablet or computer

Kooth helps to reduce wait times for all young people seeking help and removes stigma around mental health. Kooth integrates with face-to-face local services to ensure a seamless transition for young people. Kooth's team of accredited counsellors, therapists and support workers provide guided, outcome-focused help for each individual.

Kooth works with local authorities, CCGs, mental health trusts, charities and other organisations to provide early intervention support with clear escalation and de-escalation pathways.

We take safeguarding and clinical governance extremely seriously. The safety and well-being of our users is of our upmost priority.

Below is our offer to schools and services and these are available to all young people including young carers:

Staff training - We will facilitate a 30 min live demonstration of the website and provide a behind the scenes look at how we work as an organisation, including how we safeguard and real life stories from Kooth users.

Presentations - We will deliver a short presentation to young people to highlight the service and provide information on its features and how to sign up.

Sign up sessions - We will deliver a demo of the site to young people and then facilitate a sign up session with activities - approx. 60 mins (a computer room, phones or tablets are needed for these sessions).

Market stall - a promotional stall during events, break and lunch times and parent’s evenings etc.

Group sessions - We can deliver a range of group work sessions to young people, including Anxiety, Anti-bullying and Exam Stress. We also have an Emotional Resilience course (6 weeks) for year 7 students.
