We will offer Early Help Assessments and use the MACA and PANOC
We link our young carers to activities and services they want to be involved in this has also included residential opportunities through charitable donations
We hold whole school assembly raising awareness of young carers
We invite professionals into school to support our young carers on issues and topics important to them.
We will work with local primary schools to ensure a good package of support for our young carers.
We have the BRONZE Young Carers in School Award and will be looking to gain the SILVER Award soon!
We are the first secondary school to achieve the Manchester Young Carers in Schools Award!
We collaborate with our partners in schools and early help, our parents, carers and children.
We work with mentors and can arrange for young carers to access mentoring
We have a weekly young carer group on Thursday after school 3-4pm this provides our young carers the time and space to meet other young carers and have space away from their caring role.
We are working with Manchester City Council and members of our Young Carers Group participate in Council Meetings to ensure that Young Carers Voices influence decision making.
Young Carers can also participate in our many groups and clubs we have over 200 clubs taking place from Monday to Friday such as homework, chess, multisport, astronomy, drama and arts, LGBT, fitness, cookery etc.
We encourage primary feeder schools with young carers to contact in advance to ensure we have coordinated support in place for our Year 7 at transition.
