Young Carer's Support at Dixons Brooklands Academy Wythenshawe

Dixons Academy Logo

We are a Young Carer friendly school and are reaching out to our whole school community to help us to identify and support our Young Carers.

We are working with Manchester City Council and are proud members of the Manchester Young Carers Partnership.

We will soon be having our individual year group Young Carer assemblies / advisory sessions to raise awareness of Young Carers.

We will also be communicating with all parents / carers and guardians so that they know they can contact us for support if they believe their child has caring responsibilities. This communication will include a questionnaire to help us identify any Young Carers we are not currently supporting and ensure that support is offered using a strengths-based approach.

We will have a designated Young Carer’s display board and support them to access services – this will include details of drop-in sessions, any activities planned, fun days out, support, sporting events and lots more.

We will use tools to support the Young Carer Early Help Assessment and will invite services and support into our school who will work with our Young Carers.

We are committed to the Young Carers in Manchester and are looking to achieve the Carers Trust UK Young Carers in School awards.
