Manchester Local Offer Logo

We have created this resource to bring information together in one place around special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in the Manchester City Council area and beyond.

To learn more about us, please visit What is Manchester Local Offer? You can sign up to our newsletter for regular updates on all things SEND.

Benefits, grants and money

Early Help

Early Help is for all children in Manchester up to 18 (or 25 for young people with SEND) but it is recognised that children with special educational needs and disabilities may need more specialist support. Rather than a service or a single team, it is a way of working with families that helps them to cope with the difficulties they face and supports them to thrive. See the Early Help Practitioners Zone and the Early Help Assessment Journey

Education

See our SEND education section.

Emotional and mental wellbeing

Household and equipment

See our Household and equipment section.

Short Breaks (Specialist Resource Team)

The Short Breaks programme is for any disabled child or young person aged up to 18. It involves universal activities, the SEND Community Offer, and a smaller range of additional and specialist support (specifically for disabled children and young people).

PLUS - Local Offer in other languages and formats

Did you know you can easily translate Local Offer web information into other languages? Open the ReachDeck facility. Look for the orange circle with the white stick figure. It usually appears to the bottom left.

ReachDeck has lots of other accessibility features, including having the text read out loud, magnifying it and creating an MP3 of the content.

Find further features by clicking ‘Accessibility’ at the top of the webpages.

Other organisations

Contact, the national charity for families with disabled children, has a language and accessibility toolbar at the top of their website or in the menu options on mobile devices.

In Carers Manchester, click the British flag/’English’ symbol to change the language. There is also a wheelchair symbol which you can use to change several accessibility settings such as font size and contrast.
